Environmentally-Conscious Screen Cleaning Products by RhinoTech because we Care.

RhinoClean Green² - The Perfect Textile Range

Lessen the impact of screen printing on the environment by introducing the complete family of RhinoClean Green² products into regular business practices. These have proven to be effective and highly efficient in all shop sizes, especially in combination with a highly recommended filtration system that is used to collect solids that are 5 microns and larger. The RhinoClean M10 Filtration System is a compatible choice featuring a woven filter media to collect the solids. This added precaution helps to green-up and protect the environment even more, plumping systems and septic fields.
The perfect combination of RhinoClean Green² textile cleaning products includes:

SPG² 2255 that is used prior to each screen preparation. It offers an abrasive, mesh pretreatment for screen frame virgin mesh that contain microscopic grit. It works gently, rapidly and efficiently to lightly abrade and degrease the screen frame without clogging the mesh openings.  It also acts as a degreasing wetting agent. Use of the product will enable monofilament fabric to be receptive to excellent stencil adhesion when using emulsion and capillary film. This screen prep is an environmentally-sensitive, biodegradable product.

DGG² 2200 Degreaser that is a ready-to-use, highly effective grease cutting product. It is specially formulated for screen cleaning prior to applying emulsion to the screen before each stencil preparation. The product allows for non-abrasive fabric treatment, acting like a wetting agent for use on all synthetic and wire screen mesh. It offers an even sheeting of water for complete uniform stencil adhesion to improve film lamination and bonding of direct photo emulsions. The end result is the removal of dust, dirt, finger prints, oil and other foreign elements. This degreaser is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

AP 1000 that is a high performance, all purpose, water-soluble concentrated Plastisol Ink and Emulsion Remover. It is designed to be used after completion of the print run with the screen frame immersed in a dip tank. Here’s how it works: after completion of print run, the excess ink is removed from the screen and the screen is immersed into dip tank filled with APG² 1000. The product then dissolves the ink and emulsion in under 10 minutes. At this point, the screen is removed from the tank and rinsed with a high pressure cleaner to remove residue ink and emulsion. If a residue stain remains, we recommend cleaning with either SWG 210 or HRG² 2400 (see below). APG² 1000 has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. For use, dilute with water at a 1:15 ratio. It is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

PWG² 122 Press Wash that is a textile press wash designed to work rapidly and efficiently on Plastisol Inks.  It evaporates quickly and leaves no solvent residue on the screen. It is especially ideal for cleaning smeared or dried-in ink off the screen during a press run. It is also the perfect product to use for color changes on press. PWG² 122 has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. and, most importantly, is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

PWG² 125 Press Wash that is a multipurpose, biodegradable press wash. It has proven to work quickly and efficiently on U.V., Solvent and Plastisol Inks to open dried or clogged screen images during and after the production run. It is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

SWG² 145C Screen Wash that is a pleasant smelling, citrus-scented, water-soluble screen wash designed to work rapidly on Plastisol and UV Inks. It has proven ideal for efficient and expedient screen washing after the press run. It affords a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. and is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

SWG² 305 that is a water soluble, Soy Based Screen Wash designed to remove Plastisol and UV ink from the screen frame after the press run. It has proven ideal for efficient and expedient screen washing and has  very little odor. This soy-based product has a very high flash point of over 425 F. It is biodegradable, environmentally-sensitive and meets the new VOC Regulations, Rule 1171.
SWG² 305 is a multi-tasking that can also be used to help remove minor haze/ghost images.

SWG² 197C Screen Wash that is a water-soluble, multi-purpose Screen Wash Degradent with very little odor. It works rapidly on U.V. and many other solvent-based inks when washing the screen frame after the press run. It has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. and evaporates slowly for maximum yield, while leaving no residue on the screen. Most importantly, it is biodegradable and environmentally-sensitive.

SWG² 210 Screen Wash that is a water-soluble, multi-purpose screen wash ideal for expediting screen washing after the press run. It has proven to work rapidly to remove Plastisol, U.V. and many other solvent-based inks from the screen frame. It evaporates slowly for maximum yield while cleaning screen frames without leaving residue behind. The product has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. As an environmentally-sensitive RhinoClean Green² product, it is biodegradable and has a very minimal odor.

As a multi-tasking product, SWG² 210 will also help remove minor haze/ghost images.
ERG² 8550L Emulsion Remover that is a highly efficient ready-to-use product. This Emulsion Reclaiming Solution rapidly removes emulsion and capillary films from screens. It offers excellent freeze/thaw characteristics and is ideal for use in all climates. And it never separates out active ingredients. The product is biodegradable, however, environmental, economic, plumping system and septic field protections are assured when a filtration system is used to collect solids that are 5 microns and larger. This can be accomplished by using RhinoClean M10 Filtration System that has a woven filter media to collect those particles.

A Most Unusual Screen Frame Adhesive Story

Three and a half years ago, a customer called us to relate his highly distinctive and irregular use of RhinoBond, our premier screen frame adhesive. It was an astounding story complete with draw-dropping intrigue, air sucked in, a startled, vocal WOW with a slight head snapping back gesture. We had to take this one in.

And this is the story. During a regular work day and typical break from the harried pace of screen printing and deadlines, the screen printer grabbed a candy bar for a quick pick-me-up. As he bit down on the luscious chocolate bar, he heard a c-r-a-c-k and promptly chomped down on a broken piece of tooth. After his initial confusion, he salvaged the part that had broken off.

Since he had no time for a run to the dentist while under a production deadline, he dried off the piece of tooth, confidently applied some RhinoBond, his most trusted screen frame adhesive, and bonded tooth to tooth. And Viola! Walla! There you have it! Tooth repaired in seconds!

We know that look as you absorb the part about RhinoBond in the mouth, on a tooth. Though we voiced our concern over this use and cautioned him, he assured us that this fix would be permanent and not to worry. So…it was his choice and we wished him good luck.

To our great surprise, we received this email a few weeks ago from the very same, tooth-bonding screen printer that read, “Yes, I am still completely satisfied with your screen frame adhesive. I also used it 3 1/2 years ago to glue a tooth back together and it still holds true. Thanks, RhinoBond."

And thanks back, Mr. Screen Printing customer. Though we don't recommend RhinoBond for this purpose, it sure speaks to its strength and greatness.
love that smile!

So, You Want to Start a Home-Based Printing Business? Read This First.

Sometime it's tough not to just jump in when that GREAT IDEA hits you, for example, when you're at a business opportunity trade show and you suddenly get caught up in the excitement and forgo the "due diligence" that you MUST do before diving into a new endeavor and you so want to sign on the dotted line right then and there. Before you sign, though, please read the following, worthy-of-reblogging post from Industry News that is aimed at screen and graphics printers or those wanting to enter the industry and all others. Hopefully, the information and Q & A session will help to calm and arm you as you contemplate your very own home based printing start-up business.
******
I’ve been working in a home-based environment for 19 years. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was a big leap from a corporate office situation, but the benefits have far and away surpassed any doubts I had (or the naysayers). Because I have day-to-day customer contact via phone and in-person, I’m not devoid of human connection and people I enjoy working with.  I Skype, text, Tweet, use Faxbook, Linkedin and e-mail, so I engage all day long. If I have to rush out to handle an elderly parent issue or take 1, 2 or all 3 of them to a medical appointment, I can do that and make up the time later. My office is always open.

Throughout the years, the benefits to this arrangement have surpassed any negatives. In the early years, my growing family prospered because mom/marketing director, grant writer and volunteer was always on deck. At this juncture, evolving issues surrounding elderly parents (3 in our family) are able to be attended to while I happily return to my home-based office to pick up where I left off with no glowering employees or managers to return to. No time clocks to punch. Much less stress on me. And higher work output.

Before I took the leap, though, I did lots of research. The following is as thoughtful and thorough, as possible, as you consider the way to self-employment. There are some great opportunities, but you must do your research to make sure that a home-based business will be right for you and within your means. By being careful, attentive and working closely with your accountant, you can be successful, prosperous and happy in a home-based venture. I’ve related the following toward opening a home-based screen or graphics and/or heat transfer printing business (hence the references to creativity).

KNOW YOURSELF.  Do you enjoy manual work and the opportunity to see the immediate results of your skill and creativity? Will those lost creative juices appear again with a customer?  Do you enjoy being in control of your day and your decisions? Is managing your own money an investment that will advance your family’s livelihood?

KNOW YOUR SKILLS. Do you like being in charge? Are you a self-starter who doesn’t need anyone to direct you on where to begin? Can you voice your limitations to ensure your success? Can you be a manager, sales/marketing rep, handle inside/outside sales, AP/AR, answer phones and print at the same time? Ask yourself: am I a patient, calm boss willing to teach or will I send any new employee (that could potentially be a family member) running due to my inability to teach and motivate? Can I gather the necessary technical support?

KNOW YOUR FINANCES. A start-up averages $15,000, but can range above or below that mark. You will need to cover:1) initial equipment and materials purchases; 2) internet/all communication connections); 3) utilities; 4) consumables; 5) mileage/vehicle maintenance; 6) printing, advertising, marketing; 7) subscription costs for trade publications, exhibits at trade shows including shipping, travel, per diem, hotel); 8) time to social network, build a website, e-market); 9) personnel costs and benefits (as the company grows). You have to maximize every dollar.  You have to have the ability to realize a high profit margin (based on equipment costs, etc) in conjunction with your learning curve (that will generate missteps that cost money).  If you are able to handle these costs with the money you have today, then an investment in a home-based business seems feasible.

KNOW YOUR FAMILY.  Ask yourself, how much time can I devote to a home-based business without jeopardizing my family’s life? How much energy  do I have to devote to learning new technology and starting small? Can I utilize the time/talent of my teenagers or my children’s children who are technology vibrant at their young ages to help me in this venture? How much support can I expect of my spouse or partner? Are you are secure in knowing that you have a base of support in your family, that they are aligned with our goals and future outlook and are supportive of the time that you will devote to your new business?

KNOW YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSE. In the heat transfer, screen and graphics printing industry, countless businesses are  “greening” their way of doing business. From installing long-lasting light bulbs, to using recyclable papers, to lessening the impact of ink on the environment, to flexible hours, all these efforts help to reduce our carbon footprints.

CREATE A BUSINESS PLAN. After careful thought and research,  write out your business plan. Though many business owners run on “instinct”,  the overwhelming consensus is to have a Business Plan that is realistic for you. And, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Here is a jump-start when you click onHow to Write a Business PlanThis resource will offer you a sample plan and help. A basic Business Plan will help you allocate resources properly, handle unforeseen complications and make good business decisions. The plan will offer specific, organized information about your company and how you will repay borrowed money.  You’ll need a Plan as part of a loan application if you are going to seek a small business loan.

THE FINAL CONSIDERATION. If you picture yourself working at home with your kids playing at your feet, a home-based business, dare I say, might not be the best fit. Any home-based business owner, like me, will tell you that it takes immense self-direction and motivation to be successful. Distractions of daily life will not fit into this picture, so it is important that you understand what type of worker you are.   And this is image is SO NOT TRUE.

So now we’re at a place where you have to ask yourself what sustains you, right now, on a daily basis as an employee or boss? Is it the social aspect of going to work with lots of people around? Does daily change unhinge you? Does it make you feel secure to know that you will generally achieve your daily goals, every day, and that most days will not be much different from the next? Do you prefer being in the second spot, following directions of a manager? Is your family content knowing that you go to work at 8 am and will be home by 6 pm? If you answer yes to one or more of these questions, you should probably re-think a home-based business venture.

I answered NO to the above questions a very long time ago and remain happy with my decision. The majority of the time, my family has been happy, too. As we all know, though, life and work are not perfect. Expect ups and downs if you go forth. In the end though, I think you’ll be wildly happy.
Thanks for reading and subscribing. And good luck!

Another, Step-by-Step Video on Life Altering, Soy-Based Haze Remover for Screen Printers Everywhere.

Thanks for watching this video that was made with love of screen printing in conjunction with our video-producing partner, Jonathan Monaco who is Catspit Productions.

Remove ghost images for good with routine use of HRG² 2400 Haze Remover that is an environmentally-responsible product and part of the RhinoClean Green² chemical line. Both graphic and textile screen printers’ use this specially formulated liquid product to remove imbedded U.V., conventional and plastisol inks that remain on the screen following emulsion removal. HRG² 2400 effectively lifts the haze and imbedded ink from the mesh then emulsifies and dissolves the ink resins, binders, pigments, plasticizers, etc. The solution suspends resins, so reattachment to the mesh surface is prohibited allowing for simple water-rinse removal. HRG² 2400 is also an excellent degreaser. And the best part is that it is biodegradable, conforming to standards and our industry’s need to be responsible stewards of our mother earth.
