 Technically, laser printing is an electrostatic digital printing process that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics by passing a laser beam over a charged drum to define a differentially charged image. The drum then selectively collects charged toner and transfers the image to paper that is then heated to permanently fix the image.

Digital photocopiers and multifunction printers and laser printers utilize a xerographic printing process (hello, Xerox!). They differ from analog photocopiers, however, because the image is produced through the direct scanning of a medium (design) across the printer's photoreceptor. The powdered ink/toner in white, black and other colors ensure rich hues and sharp design.

RhinoTech de-mystifies Inkjet printing!

Inkjet printing is a type of computer printing that creates a digital image by laying down ink directly onto paper, plastic or, in the case of the screen printing industry, other substrates (surfaces/materials) like t-shirts, hats/caps, golf towels and more. If you’ve ever been to an SGIA, Graph Expo or IFA tradeshow, you will have certainly seen the range of sizes available in inkjet printers. The technology amazes!

And, another fun fact is that although the concept for this type of printing was actually developed in the early 1950s, it wasn’t until the 1970s when inkjet printers began to reproduce digital images generated by computers.
