INK REMOVAL 101A

This is a brief video on how-to finesse the ink off the screen frame for an on-press ink change. And, it offers the easiest way to remove the ink at the conclusion of printing using PWG122 PressWash.

FIRST UP. HOW-TO REMOVE INK FROM A SCREEN ON-PRESS:

Start with PWG122 Press Wash that has been designed to rapidly flash off the screen so that you can quickly and easily make an ON-PRESS ink change.

Next, lift the printer arm holding the screen frame that you want to make the color change on so that you are looking at the underside of the screen frame.

Using a paper or cloth towel, squirt some press wash onto the cloth. Working from the underside of the screen, wipe the targeted spot until ink is removed.

Then, lift the screen and if it still seems to need a little more work, use cloth to carefully finish wiping from the squeegee side.

Before you start to print, spray the platen with RBA2, an Aerosol Adhesive Spray Mist to help ensure that the t-shirt will remain stable on the platen. For fleece and heavier fabrics, a good choice is RBA3 Adhesive Web

Now, flood the screen and continue printing.

Once you have completed printing the project, card off the ink and proceed to the washout booth to clean the ink off the screen. The next part of the video will take place at the RhinoCleanWashout Booth for an Ink Removal demo using SWG14C-citrus-scented Screen Wash.

Squirt the screen wash onto the screen and begin scrubbing. Scrub on both sides. Very quickly, the ink will begin to emulsify.

With a pressure washer, like the amazing RS1500A, rinse the screen on both sides. To get rid of any residue, apply a bit more SWG145C, scrub and rinse. If you prefer a soy-based product, choose SWG305.

EQUIPMENT AND PRODUCTS SUMMARY:
The manual, textile printer used in the demo is a SureCure 5-4/2 combo Conveyor Dryer/Textile Screen Printer from RhinoTech with a 110V.

The RhinoClean Washout Booth is made of Polypro with an aluminum stand.

Soy-based, SWG305 Screen Wash and SWG145C  are excellent options for the final screen wash.

On-Press Wash: PWG122. And, PWG125 is a multi-purpose Press Wash that will also work on card stock, U.V. and Plastisol inks.

A Most Unusual Screen Frame Adhesive Story

Three and a half years ago, a customer called us to relate his highly distinctive and irregular use of RhinoBond, our premier screen frame adhesive. It was an astounding story complete with draw-dropping intrigue, air sucked in, a startled, vocal WOW with a slight head snapping back gesture. We had to take this one in.

And this is the story. During a regular work day and typical break from the harried pace of screen printing and deadlines, the screen printer grabbed a candy bar for a quick pick-me-up. As he bit down on the luscious chocolate bar, he heard a c-r-a-c-k and promptly chomped down on a broken piece of tooth. After his initial confusion, he salvaged the part that had broken off.

Since he had no time for a run to the dentist while under a production deadline, he dried off the piece of tooth, confidently applied some RhinoBond, his most trusted screen frame adhesive, and bonded tooth to tooth. And Viola! Walla! There you have it! Tooth repaired in seconds!

We know that look as you absorb the part about RhinoBond in the mouth, on a tooth. Though we voiced our concern over this use and cautioned him, he assured us that this fix would be permanent and not to worry. So…it was his choice and we wished him good luck.

To our great surprise, we received this email a few weeks ago from the very same, tooth-bonding screen printer that read, “Yes, I am still completely satisfied with your screen frame adhesive. I also used it 3 1/2 years ago to glue a tooth back together and it still holds true. Thanks, RhinoBond."

And thanks back, Mr. Screen Printing customer. Though we don't recommend RhinoBond for this purpose, it sure speaks to its strength and greatness.
love that smile!
