Perfect Screen Frame Cleaning Solutions!

They asked and Gregory Markus/president of RhinoTech answered in "Slam Dunk Solutions for Screen Cleaning"! Many thanks to Screen Printing magazine for publishing a step-by-step approach to screen cleaning and reclaiming. This straight-forward tutorial found on ScreenWeb also offers images of each stage in the process along with a simple explanation of each step.

START from here by carding all excess ink of the screen (refer to steps in article)...

APPLY water-soluble SCREEN WASH SWG145C that has a pleasant citrus scent. RINSE w/water to remove excess ink and screen wash (easy steps outlined in article).

NEXT, APPLY ERG8550L, a biodegradable, eco-friendly emulsion/stencil remover to fully reclaim the screen (article says it all).

RINSE SCREEN with a commercial-type PRESSURE WASHER like the RhinoSpray 1500A, heavy duty pressure washer for shops cleaning 20-50 screens per day or the
RhinoSpray 3901R that is a light-duty pressure washer for small, home based/studio type businesses. In the long-term, you'll save money by investing in a substantial pressure washer that will last and last and last (this is a must, as mentioned in the article).

De-haze with HRG2400 (or HR2800) to remove any left over 'ghost' or haze images on the screen (instructions found in article).
And there you have it; a fully reclaimed, reusable
new-looking screen frame!

A simple, economical way to remove emulsion from a screen frame!

These are DIP Tanks!
With great authority, it is highly recommended that a screen frame that has been used by a screen or graphics printer be plunged into a DIP TANK that has been filled with the 'greenest' emulsion removal chemical, as possible, to remove the stencil and bring the screen mesh back to like-new condition!

Why use a 'green' chemical?
1.     Save time and money by cutting down the amount of cleaning chemicals used in a self-contained Dip Tank (Soak Tank).
      2.     By using a ‘green’ chemical such as RhinoClean Green² Emulsion Remover or  AP1000, an all-in-one Ink Degradent Emulsion Remover, all types
of emulsions can be eliminated quickly and safely from the screen frame!
3.     You are closer to becoming compliant with local city, Parrish, township, county, state &
federal guidelines regarding what goes down the drain.
4. Our industry’s carbon footprint is reduced with a self-contained
screen cleaning system.

What is a Screen Opener?

The term Screen Opener references a product used in textile and graphics screen printing that helps to open up and loosen the mesh fibers on a screen frame that have been clogged with ink as a result of low or high volume ink passes during the printing process.

During a multi-color printing job or a one-color project, it's important that the screen frame mesh remain free and clear of ink jams! And, the results will be vibrant, sharp designs on T-shirts, hats/caps, sweat pants, hoodies, shoes, card stock, vinyl, plexiglass, metal and more.

Choosing the Screen Opener that's right for you!
When printing with water-based inks only, we recommend RhinoClean Green² SO100 that is biodegradable. For use on all types of screen printing inks, SO105 is a proven screen opener that quickly flashes off the screen without leaving film residue (it's also biodegradable). Featured on the RhinoTech and Catspit Productions youtube channels, these hard-working products are showcased in action!
Check this out for a Screen Opener demo w/ intro on Spray Tacks)
Benefits:
  1. Screen Openers work fast, saving on downtime!
  2. Once the ink is loosened and flashed off, the screen frame can be used over and over again!
  3.  Screen openers can be used with aluminum, wood, metal, rolling and retentionable screen frames.
  4.  RhinoTech offers FREE SHIPPING opportunities on these (and all) products with an order of $50 or more (in contiguous U.S.)

It effectively lifts the haze and embedded ink from the mesh, then emulsifies and dissolves the ink resins, binders, pigments, plasticizers, etc. The solution suspends resins, so reattachment to the mesh surface is prohibited allowing for water-rinse removal. It can also be used as an excellent degreaser!

'GREEN' Screen Cleaning Products that Rate a Thumbs Up - #1!

Customer product reviews are important and necessary. Thanks to Catspit Productions and our customers who have given RhinoClean Green² screen cleaning products the big thumbs up publicly via youtube.com, Facebook, Twitter and their purchases! We are grateful!

RhinoClean Green² screen cleaning chemicals are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly.
Screen Prep - SPG² 2255 is used prior to each screen frame preparation. It offers an abrasive, mesh pretreatment for screen frame virgin mesh that contain microscopic grit. It works gently, rapidly and efficiently to lightly abrade and degrease the screen frame without clogging the mesh openings.  It also acts as a degreasing wetting agent. Use of the product will enable monofilament fabric to be receptive to excellent stencil adhesion when using emulsion and capillary film.

Degreaser - DGG² 2200 Degreaser is a ready-to-use, highly effective grease cutting product. It is specially formulated for screen frame cleaning prior to applying emulsion to the screen before each stencil preparation. The product allows for non-abrasive fabric treatment, acting like a wetting agent for use on all synthetic and wire screen mesh. It offers an even sheeting of water for complete uniform stencil adhesion to improve film lamination and bonding of direct photo emulsions. The end result is the removal of dust, dirt, finger prints, oil and other foreign elements.

All-Purpose - AP 1000 is a high performance, all purpose, water-soluble concentrated Plastisol Ink and Emulsion Remover. It is designed to be used after completion of the print run with the screen frame immersed in a dip tank. Here’s how it works: after completion of print run, the excess ink is removed from the screen and the screen is immersed into dip tank filled with APG² 1000. The product then dissolves the ink and emulsion in under 10 minutes. At this point, the screen is removed from the tank and rinsed with a high pressure cleaner to remove residue ink and emulsion. If a residue stain remains, we recommend cleaning with either SWG 210 or HRG²2400 (see below). APG² 1000 has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. For use, dilute with water at a 1:15 ratio.

Press Wash - PWG² 122 PressWash is a textile press wash designed to work rapidly and efficiently on Plastisol Inks.  It evaporates quickly and leaves no solvent residue on the screen. It is especially ideal for cleaning smeared or dried-in ink off the screen during a press run. It is also the perfect product to use for color changes on press. PWG² 122 has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc..

Press Wash - PWG² 125 Press Wash is a multipurpose, biodegradable press wash. It has proven to work quickly and efficiently on U.V., Solvent and Plastisol Inks to open dried or clogged screen images during and after the production run.

It has proven ideal for efficient and expedient screen washing and has very little odor. This soy-based product has a very high flash point of over 425 F. and meets the new VOC Regulations, Rule 1171. Multi-task with it to help remove minor haze/ghost images.

Screen Wash - SWG² 197C Screen Wash is a water-soluble, multi-purpose Screen Wash Degradent with very little odor. It works rapidly on U.V. and many other solvent-based inks when washingthe screen frame after the press run. It has a higher flash point than lacquer thinner, alcohols, ketones, etc. and evaporates slowly for maximum yield, while leaving no residue on the screen.

Screen Wash - SWG² 210 Screen Wash is a water-soluble, multi-purpose screen wash ideal for expediting screen washing after the press run.
